Submission Guidelines

A person need not be a member of HOPOS to submit a proposal for the congress program.  However, speakers at the conference are required to register and to be (or to become) members.  (For additional information, please visit the “Membership in HOPOS” page.)

A person can appear as a speaker on the congress program no more than once, and additionally, a person may have a speaking role in no more than one proposal. (In other words, someone submitting a proposal for a contributed paper may not be listed as a speaker in a proposed symposium; and conversely, someone listed as a speaker in a proposed symposium may not submit a proposal for a contributed paper.)

All proposals must be prepared for anonymous review; i.e., abstracts must not include any information that could indicate the identity of the author. Proposals that have not been prepared for anonymous review will not be considered.

Proposals for contributed papers must include:

- The paper title
- An abstract of no more than 500 words

Note: If you are proposing a contributed paper, you will have the opportunity at the time of submission to indicate whether your proposal may be considered for inclusion on the program as a poster.

A symposium may consist of either 3 or 4 papers, and proposals for symposia must include:

- The title of the symposium
- A symposium summary statement of no more than 500 words
- Titles of the symposium papers
- Abstracts of the symposium papers, with each abstract being no longer than 500 words
